MIC Library is well stocked with Books, Journals, Magazines and Audiovisual materials to meet the information needs of Students and Faculty of MIC. New books are continuously added in order to keep the library abreast of development in Media and Communication studies. More than three thousand books donated by the Honorary Director Dr. M V Kamath is an invaluable addition. Library is having a unique collection of Gandhi’s work, Tagore Collection, Rare collection of books and First print of Constitution of India Book.

OPAC is available through the Intranet. So, users can search not only MIC library catalogue. They can search the catalogue of other MAHE Institutions libraries in the campus.


Library has a separate Audiovisual Room with all facilities for Film Screening and recording the TV programmed etc for the academic work. MIC Library is an Institutional member of AMIC (Asian Media Information and Communication centre, Singapore and have access to their website.


Library is stretching to an area of 5000 sq. feet with a seating capacity of 63. The fully Air-conditioned library is WI-FI enabled.


Photocopying and Internet browsing facility is available in the library for students and other users.

Administration

The library is managed by a qualified Librarian-Senior Scale, who is supported by a Deputy Librarian. Assisting them are two Library Assistants and one General Duty Worker.

Library: Rules and Regulations

  1. Students who visit the library must carry their MAHE ID card which is issued by MAHE
  2. Students can borrow 2 books and two back volumes of Journal/ Magazines at a time
  3. Books will issue for the duration of one week
  4. Book should be returned inn the due date stamped in the due date slip.
  5. Overdue of Rs. 1/ will be charged per book/per day after the due date.
  6. Reissue of the same book will be done only if the book is not in demand.
  7. Lost/damage of the book should be replaced with new book or should pay two times of the present cost of the book
  8. Students are requested to collect the receipt from the library after paying the overdue amount.
  9. Books will be renewed only after showing the books physically.
  10. Marking inside the book/magazine/newspaper are strictly prohibited.
  11. Personal books/belongings are strictly not allowed inside the library. Students can carry laptop by taking prior permission from the librarian.
  12. Personal belonging should be kept in the Property counter
  13. Library is not responsible for the loss of their belongings
  14. Smoking/sleeping inside the library is strictly prohibited.
  15. Requested to maintain silence inside the library. Using mobile phone/talking loudly/eating inside the library is not allowed
  16. Group discussion inside the library is not permitted.
  17. Misplacing the books in the rack is strictly prohibited
  18. Library will be remaining open from 9.a.m. to 7 p.m. on all the weekdays except Sunday/Third Saturday/MAHE holidays
